.about.us.

At Aspire Family Psychology we work from a whole family perspective. Building relationships with children, adolescents and their families is central to our work and the success of our programs. In our work with children and adolescents we promote parents as the experts of their children. We aim to support parents whilst providing them with the tools to assist their children in areas of difficulty such as, emotion management and social functioning. From our work we strive to stregthen families and to arm them with the necessary skills to live happy and fulfilling lives.

Josette Hamilton

I have lived and worked in many parts of the world including South America, Europe and Australia. I have over twenty years experience with diverse roles, including counselling, school psychology, youth work, managerial work and working with people living with disability, in particular Autism Spectrum Disorder. I have experience across the lifespan from perinatal mental health to older adults and palliative care, as well as cross-cultural experience. I have worked in community centres, youth homes, hospital settings (inpatient and outpatient), as well as in private practice.

As well as completing masters level training in Counselling Psychology, I have undertaken much professional development in the areas of trauma and attachment, and use this to enhance my work with all clients within a recovery-oriented framework. My clinical orientation is primarily interpersonal, with a focus on the therapeutic relationship, as well as clients' personal relationships. I draw from many theories, including sensori-motor, cognitive-behavioural, existential, psychodynamic, attachment theory, and neuropsychology. I provide a flexible approach in order to ensure a client-centered service, working with individuals, couples, groups, and families.

I work with people of all ages and from all walks of life experiencing any range of difficulties, those with a DSM diagnosis as well as those struggling with the stresses of day to day life. I am a trained facilitator of the SAS social skills program, Cook Kids and Chilled anxiety reduction programs, and the Bringing Up Great Kids parenting program. I am also able to provide a coaching service for those who would like to enhance their current quality of life.

My rooms are in North Perth, however I can do in-home visits as necessary. This can be particularly useful for the elderly and families with young children. My fee is $160 per session. In-home visits for elderly are bulk-billed. For a confidential discussion please contact me on 0423121014 or at josette@aspirefamilypsychology. Your enquiry is welcome.
